522 exhibitors from 50 countries are taking part in the exhibition and will be able to showcase their high-quality arms from Nov 27 to Nov 30. Countries such as China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, USA and host Pakistan are all establishing their exclusive country pavilions at the Expo Centre. A great stride forward for the Navy was the launch of the Anti-submarine System. Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) has introduced newly developed anti-submarine weaponry system named “Depth Charge Mark-II MOD3”. Produced and developed for the navy, the air launched anti-submarine weapon system detonates at an optimum depth of 70 feet that makes it very effective against intruder submarines submerged at a shallow depth. Another support system that can cover both the army and the Navy was the unmanned aircraft called “Burraq“. Built by Global Industrial Defence Solution, the drone is capable of flying at the altitude of 16000 feet for up to ten hours. As a capstone activity in IDEAS-2018, National Centre for Maritime Policy Research (NCMPR) Karachi Chapter of National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) under the auspices of Pakistan Navy organized a Maritime Conference on the topic Maritime Security Dynamics and Requirement of Innovative Solutions for Indian Ocean Region. Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Brigadier General Ibrahim Salman Al Naimat, Commander of Royal Jordanian Naval Forces as the Guest of Honour in the conference.

Vice Chief of Naval Staff while highlighting the significance of Indian Ocean Region in prevailing situation, dilated upon the myriad of maritime security challenges being faced by the littoral states. He emphasized that besides, collaboration and information sharing with partner nations, the demands of effective maritime domain awareness also require capability enhancement through technological innovations.
