Pakistan Navy will conduct multinational maritime ‘AMAN Exercise 2019’ in the beginning of the next year. To this effect, a Final Planning Conference (FPC) was held in Karachi on Dec 11. At least 41 representatives of the participating countries attended the conference. ARY NEWS
Exercise AMAN-19 has been scheduled in the North Arabia Sea. Navies of 83 countries have been invited to participate. This is the 7th Exercise of AMAN series. AMAN is an Urdu word meaning ‘Peace’ and slogan of AMAN exercise is ‘Together for Peace’. Exercise AMAN-19
The FPC was hosted by the Chief Staff Officer to Commander Pakistan Fleet (CSO to COMPAK), Commodore Naeem Sarwar. This Planning Conference provided a means of finalizing the details for participants and observers alike in ensuring the conduct of the Multilateral Exercise AMAN. The concept of the 2019 edition of this Multilateral Exercise will revolve around the information sharing and dialogues, through the International Maritime Conference, and enhancing and developing interoperability between navies in countering non-traditional threats, such as Vessel Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) and anti-piracy operations, as well as high end warfare serials, namely Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Gunnery exercises and Air Defence exercises. Pakistan Navy Spokesperson said, “The exercises will play an important role for formation of a joint strategy and consensus approach for the global maritime security. The basic purpose of the exercises include enhancement of professional expertise in capability of joint operations and regional peace and security. Naval forces from across the world will be participating in the AMAN Exercises with Pakistan Navy’s declared resolve of ‘Unity for Peace.” The Frontier Post
Through AMAN Exercises the Pakistan Navy brings together the navies of various states on one platform. This Exercise establishes that it is essential for the states to take keen interest in the mutual use of seas for peaceful co-existence in the maritime domain. Participation by the diverse countries in the AMAN Exercise is an evidence that these states acknowledge Pakistan’s significance in the regional maritime arena.
